Marie E. Pletsch, MD, attended the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and was awarded her medical degree in 1962. She served her internship and cher three-year general surgery residency at Cook County Hospital, now The John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, in Chicago, Illinois, and St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, California, and conducted her second residency in plastic surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in San Francisco, California, which included a rotation through Letterman Army Hospital, Contra Costa County Hospital, San Quentin Prison Hospital, U.S. Public Health Hospital and Southern Pacific Hospital.
